That feeling when it dawns on you that you know someone like you is a very strange feeling. It didn’t really affect me when they said it. It took a couple of hours.

It just gets to this point where you feel hideously alone. Like there is no one else out there like that. Certainly not anyone you know. And so you look briefly but you find mostly people your age or younger who are just as miserable or worse. So you just abandon that search all together because it just depressed you.

It feels like, I suppose, that just after a point that’s it. People like me stop existing entirely. Like there’s no hope or future for us save perhaps being depressed. Which makes you feel very hopeless. And proceeds to escalate and mutate into a feeling that perhaps the people who have told you that your experience isn’t real or that you’re just making it up, it feels like they are perhaps telling the truth. That perhaps everything you know is actually wrong and you really are just someone with some pretend problem that isn’t actually a big deal due to not even existing. Years of experience and examples of genderqueer identities existing throughout time notwithstanding. It just gets to a point where it all feels very pointless and like you are just lying. Even though you know you’re not.

Which just makes what is already a miserable thing exponentially worse.

I don’t feel like that right now though. I think that perhaps for the first time I don’t actually feel alone. Even though I’ve known that I’m not for years. Knowing isn’t the same thing as feeling. I do feel that there is someone else out there now though. And that perhaps I do have a future. It doesn’t necessarily have to be happy. I just have to know I have it and feel like I do. I can work on the happy part later. For now I just need to know that it’s there and that I’m not alone and that I’m not lying.

This is a very hard thing to feel, but it is a good thing. I am just so happy and relieved and safe and hopeful. Even if other things still hurt. At least I’m not alone right now.

I just realized that this was a horrible idea because Kanaya needs to be a dwarf. Or maybe it’s a grand idea. I can’t tell.

And it might be the literalist in me, but I personally see the hemospectrum arranged by height, the more royal trolls being elves, at the very end being a very loud and irate Hobbit. The kids, being outside the spectrum would be maia.

I myself didn’t really want to make any Maia really. Which is part of why there aren’t any currently devised. I wanted to deal more in the less powerful races of Middle-Earth. The things I am most touched by and can relate to.

The reasoning for why certain people ended up where they are depends…Meenah became Numenorean because Numenor is an island and there are very heavy mariner themes with that culture. They are skilled at what they do in that regard and just very regal in general. The people of Numenor were also notably very desirous of better things. Not just wealth but eternal life and this ultimately is why the island was thrust under the waves. They got too envious of the Elves and attacked Aman.

Aranea was made a Noldor because she just seems like she would fit as an Elf. She’s rather knowledgeable and concerned with stories. Like. That is basically what Aranea feeds off. The ability to tell stores to people. Noldor was picked in specific because the Noldor Exiles can be highly passionate and very unpleasant. They’re essentially the closest the Elves have ever come to being evil being involved in the three Kinslayings among other shit. The Serkets and Nitrams were placed there to give Aranea a family and families are very important. In fact I needed families to even pick her names in some cases.

The Maryams ended up in Rohan due to just how passionate those people are. They’re very concerned with their freedom and while they might not be regal they’re very artsy and intelligent in their own fashions. Having in particular a great oral tradition. And shieldmaidens. They got them. It’d make for an interesting environment for both Porrim and Kanaya. The Vantases admittedly are here mostly because I can’t separate the Maryams from them. Also can you imagine Karkat and Kankri on horses?

Blonde Kankri on his dashing steed pissing off Porrim while Karkat whines to Kanaya about god knows what. Maybe the fact that he thinks everyone’s love poems suck ass.

Jane and her fellows got put as Hobbits because they seem much more homely. Jane and John exist to be the normal characters. The ones we can relate to best. Hobbits also aren’t entirely unadventurous or hateful of knowledge beyond family trees. Tookish strains in particular are known for producing rather odd Hobbits. Ones who venture into the Old Forest and so on.

The Striders are based on a joke as I said and because it is just fun to imagine this huge line of Dirks and Daves. Dwarves are, like the other prominent races, rather fond of music and tales. They also craft weapons more fantastically awesome than most races. And hate when people know them as they truly are. Dwarves are secretive.

Roxy and Rose ended up as Silvan Elves because Rose is one of the more knowledgeable peoples in the story. She’s the Seer of Light and Elves are basically the “WE KNOW STUFF AND LIKE TO STUDY” race. They like such things more than sex. Which is still awesome don’t get me wrong, but we could instead be studying history or languages and writing really terrible wordy stories. Roxy also seems to like writing. Elves also really like drink. Most things in Middle-Earth do it seems, but with the Elves we know that they are basically horrible party animals. Who may develop drinking problems. I mean BIlbo got the Dwarves out of Thranduil’s halls because one of his guards stole some wine and got piss ass drunk to the point of passing out.

Oh dear god, Kraken wants to hear more about Middle-Earthstuck…Well first off we’re very far from anywhere near even done with just details and planning. The most developed thing we have so far is Aranea because for whatever reason she is my go-to girl for nerdy crossover bullshit I assault RP clients with.

So let’s start with her I guess. Aranea is one of the Noldor Exiles and is a child of Mindfang and the Summoner. Mindfang and the Summoner being Westron translations of their epesse, after names which are nicknames or titles assigned to an Elf by others. These in Quenya are currently Indsigil and Cuiveacan. Mindfang is currently the only one with a Sindarin translation in the form of Islmasicil.

Now back to Aranea…She was born during the Great Journey to Aman. Her earliest memories thus are of Middle-Earth. I’m not entirely certain just what to make her atalesse, the father name. Typically I’ve messed with names relating to red hair, something that the Summoner is considered rather unusual in having given that most Noldor have brown hair and rather dark browns at that. This is mentioned mostly because Aranea’s time of birth correlates to what her aimalesse is.

Mindfang the ever pleasant woman she is deemed that her rather curious daughter who was very passionate about things that just didn’t last forever or very long at all would be named Calearwen. In particular Aranea was rather entranced by the sight of golden light upon the ocean during the waxing of Laurelin. And thus she was named after that very light. The significance of the name going beyond just the fact that Aranea was really bizarrely intrigued by that in particular, but also to point out that she was hopelessly passionate and that pretty much everything she loved didn’t last very long. This became very darkly meaningful when the Two Trees were destroyed. At any rate Mindfang basically defined what she felt would upset her child most and lead to her suffering later on. She was very accurate in her guess as it turns out!

Which leads us to the next name. Her kilmesse was decided either on Middle-Earth before the trip or following said trip. Not entirely certain about that exact temporal detail and I’m still working that out. Regardless of the when the what and how remains generally the same. Aranea found the little spiders she saw rather curious and interesting. They made such fine little webs and were horribly violent and territorial. This prompted her to look for a name relating to them and, based upon her individual tastes phoneme wise, she ended up with the resulting named of Ungwewen, Ungolwen in Sindarin.

One will note that this is in essence a translation of the name Aranea. One will also note that this name wouldn’t have been used very openly. The first reason being that kilmesse are just kind of special and private in general. The second being that during her time in Aman the whole “Ungoliant murders the Two Trees and Morgoth steals the Silmarils thing” as well as the related “She built a web strong enough to hold Melkor and cause him to scream out in fear so strong it was heard in the depths of Angband.” Spiders just aren’t something you share a namesake with and especially not for Elves, creatures that experienced this and remember it.

Still Aranea’s a highly stubborn and oblivious person. Horrid too in many ways. And so we kept at studying spiders regardless. Studying the giant spiders would eventually become her main hobby in life and a very big part of why she ended up ostracizing herself from Elf society at large. She suspects her people hate her and for the most part she’s right.

However for much of her life this name wasn’t used at all. The first period in which was openly used involves Meenah.

Meenah who lived during the Second Age and the might of Numenor. Meenah whose family has a decent standing and history in war. They aren’t big famous types, but they’re renowned and powerful enough to be teaching their children Sindarin as a secondary language to just use. They also own a bakery that the Condesce somehow plans to use to get at the immortality of the Elves. And also put other bakeries out of business via a monopoly. Most things involving that family are ridiculous.

Hence why Meenah left and one day came across Aranea who was recently caught in a shipwreck. And saved by Meenah for the purpose of stealing her things. Aranea’s things ended up not stolen and eventually over time they became friends. Details on this exact happening are still being worked on, but a good deal of it relates to Meenah’s ability to pun in two languages as well as how fast she picked up Quenya. Aranea is sadly, like most Elves, a huge language nerd and thus was charmed by Meenah’s endless punning. Even though it was terrible. Also she learned Quenya very quickly and for the better as far as Aranea was concerned. Because Sindarin is ugly and stupid and her people were just dumb for abandoning it even before Thingol outlawed it.

It is from Meenah that she earned her epesse and this would be the name she would be known by during Meenah’s lifespan. She would be dubbed Suletyelta, the breath ender because dear motherfucking god that woman could talk and dear god she refused to let you speak. Your breaths are ended and she very well may even be stealing them to use to keep talking. This was then rendered in Westron as Windfang, a very, very loose play on her breath ending. We’re not done yet as we still lack an instance of Serket. That instance comes out in that it was yet another rendering of Suletyelta and Serks the rendering of Tyelta. Suletyelta, Serket, and numerous forms of those two names are primarily what Meenah called her in public (in a Sindarin form among Elves obviously).

Because in private she eventually earned the right to use Ungwewen and was the first to render it as Aranea. This would also come with the rights to Aranea’s elf baby making urges.

And thus the two sailed about looking for treasure and, passively, eternal life for Meenah. Over time it became apparent that Meenah was in fact aging and that life wasn’t going to last forever for her. In what would become a mounting panic they began to search more extensively for some way to fix this problem via giving Meenah eternal life. Attacking Aman was off bounds as was going near it at all. That was their absolute last ditch plan though. Sadly they never got around to going through with it because Meenah died during one of their other searches. She would die at the hands of orcs in some mountain range or another and she would die while protecting Aranea. Words to the effect of her actually being happy would be the last things she would utter.

Aranea wouldn’t succumb to a lack of will to live, however. Such tends to happen to Elves that lose their lovers but Aranea was far too spiteful to do so. That ultimately wouldn’t be right to Meenah given that she was finally happy to see Aranea happy. She would thus try to be happy out of sheer spiteful will.

This didn’t work out well for her. The name Serket would lose wide spread use and eventually she would go by her atalesse once more. Until the Third Age when giant spiders were really becoming a problem in Mirkwood. She took to studying them obviously and this did not make her a fan of the Silvan Elves living in the woods. Out of upset someone used the name devised by someone close to her in the past as an insult. This caught on and eventually making fun of her with the name Serket became standard practice. Why they even rendered it in Quenya because she’s a known language snob.

Highly upset and hurt by all this she would begin to take it as a sign of pride, stubbornly referring to herself with it. Which along with her continued terrible behavior ended up in them being more and more unpleasant. In one move Aranea did something that would ultimately sever her relationship with Silvan Elves and many of her own; she would begin openly using her highly taboo kilmesse in both Quenya and Westron.

From that point on the only people beyond her family (that she isn’t terribly fond of for a variety of reasons) that she frequently associated with in manners judged “amicable” would be mortals. Some could stand her but just ended up dying. Others she ended up making hate her via her heavy paranoia and general behavior. Either way the name Calearwen was sticking very close to its significance and following her everywhere she went.

It would become the ultimate death of her when a Rohan woman named Porrim entered the scene. She would meet her on Ered Nimrais while searching for giant spiders as always. Porrim meanwhile was simply searching for plants her family used in their dye making. She bumbled along straight towards the nest of a spider that Aranea knew of and Aranea followed her hoping she would turn back. When it became obvious she wouldn’t Aranea decided to meddle in an effort to save this idiot who was taking plants of no nutritional or medical value. Porrim basically proceeded to question if she was some form of Elf witch that would be spiriting her away and noting that it highly upset her continued to do so. Aranea eventually got fed up and insulted her and finally her horse. No longer willing to take this shit Porrim just continued on her way. Sadly Aranea’s screaming awoke the spider and drew her close. This thoroughly scared Porrim’s horse that would eventually leave her out of fear. Said horse is currently named Wiglaf for the humorous irony behind it.

MORE SHIT HAPPENS.

THIS POST IS GETTING LONG.

Aranea dies following the death of Porrim from old age. Not sure exactly how I want that to go about. She’s not going to die from lack of will to live which leaves us with suicide by her own hands or suicide through the aid of someone else. Both options have things that appeal to me. The only reason her meeting with Porrim was as detailed as it is there is because that is one of the few things I have written in narrative form and it’s being worked on recently so it’s at the forefront of my memory right now.

That’s just one person and not even everything I have in regards to her life. I said nothing about her family for example and part of that is built. There’s still thousands years left of other history to deal with as well.

Some of the other characters have been cast as well. The Maryams are all Rohirrim and the Vantas’s are as well. Their lusii also fall into the Rohirrim doom pit. All the seadwellers live on Numenor save perhaps the Amporas. Who I may make Gondorians. I’m not sure what to do with them. The Harleys, Egberts, Crockers, and Englishes are Hobbits and are all related slightly due to HUGE HOBBIT GENEALOGIES. Spidermom is now an Elf and married to Doc Scratch. They are the reason Mindfang is so horrible. Tinkerbull is also an Elf and Beforus Tavros is as well. They are the parents of the Summoner. The Summoner and Mindfang’s children are Aranea, Vriska, Rufioh, and Tavros. Rose and Roxy are Silvan Elves. The Striders, due to a joking comment a friend made, are now all Dwarves. There is an entire line of Dirks and every instance of Dirk is part of this seemingly cloned line of Dwarves. Same with the many Daves.

I am endlessly upset there isn’t enough Adunnaic to begin translating the names of the characters who ended up as Men. And that I don’t know enough Anglo-Saxon to give the Maryam and Vantas family characters proper Anglo-Saxon names.

This is why Aranea’s names are still undergoing huge amounts of editing and changing. I’m not pleased with them save Calearwen which was formerly Caleariel. It switches back and forth and honestly may be entirely dumped for something else.

Shit regarding her life and family and such has changed a lot too and still is because it just needs to be perfect and my conception of perfect is very lofty. And my ideas on what I want change constantly.

One day I got bored and bloodswapped Aranea into being mutant red. And then I wasn’t pleased with the lack of backstory for the character I am currently assaulting MSPARP with. So I swapped all the others the same number of spaces.

But then I had to swap their classes. And then quirks. And then more personality change crap. Then interests.

I still wasn’t pleased though because we ended up with males as tyrian bloods in societies under matriarchal rule.

and now i am creating the basics of a beforus ruled by a tyrian karkat that is the knight of life and rewriting what beforus is

and life in alternia is now communism
